I live in Da Nang. I had no idea this existed two hours away.
Primary forest.
Waterfalls.
Natural caves.

Two hours from Da Nang city center. Primary mountain forest that stretches as far as you can see.

And then — the Co Tu indigenous people. Their traditional dances. Their mountain food. Their culture that the Truong Son mountains shaped over centuries and that no city has ever replaced.

Over 20 ancient caves. 25 unnamed waterfalls. A Co Tu mountain community that has lived here for centuries. 75km from Da Nang.

Final legal update on the Da Nang cafe vandalism case — and the outcome is the most serious yet. ⚖️

Da Nang Criminal Investigation Police have formally issued criminal prosecution decisions and executed a temporary detention order against the suspect — now fully identified as Lilly Shaymus Graeme, born 1991, Australian national, temporarily residing in Ngu Hanh Son Ward, Da Nang.

Charge: Disturbing Public Order.

This goes beyond the initial charge filing. A formal arrest and detention order has now been executed — meaning Lilly Shaymus Graeme is in custody while the full investigation continues.

The investigation findings confirm the behavior caused:

🔴 Serious impact on public security and order
🔴 Disruption to the cafe’s business operations
🔴 Widespread panic among customers and staff
🔴 Disruption to traffic and public order in the surrounding area

The investigation is now moving into the next phase — formal damage assessment of all property destroyed at the cafe and all related assets. Once the valuation is complete, investigators will consider additional charges specifically for property destruction — which carries separate legal consequences under Vietnamese law.

This means the current charge of Disturbing Public Order may not be the final picture. Property destruction charges are being actively prepared as a separate matter based on the damage assessment results.

Da Nang’s criminal investigation process is thorough, systematic and following every step of Vietnamese law. The case is not closed — it is actively progressing toward full accountability. 🌊

Official heat bulletin issued for Da Nang at 8AM this morning — and the heatwave is not backing down. 🌡️🔥
This is the third consecutive official warning this week. Natural Disaster Risk Level 1 remains in effect. Here’s the full picture:
📊 Yesterday June 3rd — temperatures reaching 35–37°C across the city. Humidity already dropping to 50–60%. The heatwave is in full effect.
🌡️ Next 24–48 hours — temperatures continuing to rise across all Da Nang wards and communes. Peak hitting 35–37°C with some areas exceeding 37°C. Humidity dropping further to 48–55%.
⚠️ Next 72–120 hours — the most serious window still ahead. Temperatures maintaining at 35–38°C with some areas exceeding 38°C. Humidity at its lowest at 45–55%.
🔴 Natural Disaster Risk Level 1 — still officially declared.
Official risks that the meteorological authority is specifically warning about:

Da Nang DIFF 2026 has officially kicked off!!

An incident at a Da Nang cafe in the early hours of this morning has been making the rounds on social media — and as someone who covers this city honestly, here’s what actually happened. 👇
At around midnight on May 29th going into May 30th, a foreign national entered Cafe H. on Le Hong Phong Street in Hai Chau District — and proceeded to use chairs and hard objects to smash and destroy property inside the cafe. Customers fled the scene. The entire incident was captured on video by witnesses.
The cafe immediately called police. Officers from Hai Chau Ward Public Security arrived within minutes and quickly subdued and detained the individual.
According to initial information from Hai Chau Ward Police, the person involved holds Australian nationality and showed signs of mental instability at the time of the incident.
The damage is significant. The cafe owner estimates approximately 500 million VND in damage to the venue — broken glass doors, destroyed computers, smashed furniture. On top of that, the personal property of 5 customers including laptops and phones was damaged — estimated at around 70 million VND.
Hai Chau Ward Police have invited all affected parties to provide statements, and the scene has been preserved for official inspection and investigation.
Da Nang police responded fast. The situation was contained within minutes. The city’s safety response system worked exactly as it should.
This is an isolated incident. Da Nang remains one of the safest cities in Vietnam for residents and visitors alike — and when something like this happens, the authorities are there immediately. 🌊
