The friendliest town along I-95 and home to the Tobacco Farm Life Museum, Kenly has been preserving the rural heritage of Eastern NC for over 25 years.
This Twitter account is no longer active. However, you can find more information about Kenly at https://t.co/Rq2Ku8XJaM. You can also see recent tweets covering all of Johnston County by following @JoCoTourism.
Our friends at the Public Library of Johnston County & Smithfield (@PLJCS1) recently reopened to the public. If you pop in, be sure to check out our temporary exhibit there about rural education and what you might have found in a farmer's library in the early 1900s.

Volunteers (in family groups) stationed at the museum’s historic buildings help bring the village scenes of our Christmas Village Drive Through to life. Look for these villagers as you enjoy the decorations. Learn more about the event: https://t.co/h2DkQpRYpB #VisitJoCo
The Museum’s holiday decor reflects the simple "Christmas Villages" as well as the historic decorative style of the time period we present (1880s-1950s). Our decorations also add a rustic element by being placed on our farmstead buildings. Learn more: https://t.co/h2DkQpRYpB

Our friends at the @KenlyTFLM, another @JoCoTourism site, share the history & impact of tobacco farming on NC as well as daily life in the farming community from about 1880-1950. Check them out for more about the world #AvaGardner grew up in. #BrightLeaf#TCMParty#VisitJoCo
The classic film about the world of #BrightLeaf tobacco also makes us think of classic film star & #JoCo native, #AvaGardner. Ava was raised on a farm. Her father farmed cotton and tobacco. Photo: Ava with Gloria DeHaven in publicity shot. #VisitJoCo#TCMParty@AvaMuseum
