Happy International Women’s Day! ♀️💚
This image taken in Nottingham in 1917 shows the city’s women window cleaners, who were the first women in Nottingham to ever be allowed to wear trousers in public! As they were only permitted to wear trousers for safety at work, they would have to put their dresses on straight after they finished work – nevertheless it was certainly a sign of progress.
Celebrate all the wonderful women of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire today and head to Bromley House Library who have joined forces with Nottingham Women’s History Group.

Who says horses can’t fly? 🐴✨
Situated in the heart of Nottingham’s retail district is the timeless boutique shopping destination and iconic walkway, the Flying Horse Walk. As a nod to its unique name, both entrance facades of the shopping arcade feature three-dimensional horse sculptures – with wings of course!
The walkway, which takes its name from the 17th century Flying Horse Inn and subsequent Flying Horse Hotel, now houses a range of independent shopping boutiques. From art galleries, jewellery and designer fashion to local produce at the Cheese Shop and coffee at 200 Degrees, there’s plenty to discover.
