@PlacidoDomingo 's spectacular concert in Guadalajara left no room for doubt: zarzuela, which his parents first took to Mexico to such acclaim in the 1950s, remains firmly embedded in local hearts today. Moved to tears as he went on a trip down memory lane, Domingo was cheered to the rafters with romanzas and duets by Spanish composer and family friend Federico Moreno Torroba, one of whose works is entitled "The pride of Jalisco". And when Domingo, who grew up in Mexico, appeared dressed as a charro, the celebratory mood at the concert hall named after him at Conjunto Santander reached fever pitch. Thank you for an evening full of love in which your artistry brought Spain and Mexico together in the music you have taken around the world. The 1,700 spectators were right to shout at the tops of their voices: "Viva Jalisco", "Viva Plácido Domingo"!
