#USDA reports that another dairy cow herd in Idaho has been infected with #H5N1 #BirdFlu. This is the 164th confirmed herd in Idaho, which is recorded nearly 3 dozen new infected herds this month alone. The US total since the outbreak was first recognized in March 2024 is 1142 herds in 19 states.

#CDC learned of 2 more pediatric #flu deaths in the 2025-26 season last week, bringing the season-to-date total to 174 peds deaths. This number will continue to rise; reports are often delayed; eg. these kids died in late Jan & late Feb.
CDC estimates 85% of these kids weren't fully vaxed for flu.

Another pediatric death was reported in the 2024-25 flu season, making it the deadliest flu season for kids since CDC started collecting this data point 20 years ago. 2024-25 has surpassed the 2009 H1N1 pandemic.
