As much as I dislike the multiverse Spider-Man derivatives, Peni and Noir feel like they actually prove the rule- they are largely successful because they are so thoroughly dethatched from the mainline canon that they are effectively different characters with a loose Spider-Man motif. I enjoy the Japanese Spider-Man show for the same reason. It doesn't need to trash Peter Parker or co-opt his legacy and mostly does its own thing.

Lmao no. Considering Ross was the one whose blind attempt to apprehend Hulk resulted in his authorizing illegal experiments that created and unleashed Abomination on Harlem (arguably doing more damage than Hulk did in South Africa), there's no way that Banner would trust the accords. If anything he knows exactly where "government oversight" leads and part of his personal quest was to keep himself and the monster out of government hands.

Traditionally, yeah, but it seems like the MCU is delineating between Professor Hulk and Savage Hulk in this case. Savage Hulk shook Temu Jean out almost immediately, whereas they're using the Banner psyche as the way Professor Hulk could be controlled. Granted their entire portrayal of Hulk is not terribly coherent post-2012 Avengers.

Yeah it's weird to jump automatically to "misogynist" when I think it's more likely attributable to sentimentality. The reality is that in most men's life, the healing agents are typically women- even beyond roles like nurses or teachers, girlfriends, wives, mothers, fill an invaluable role in spiritual repair/edification. Saying "this is the type of person who fixed my wounds" and creating someone that embodies that archetype isn't rooted in hatred of women. Kind of the opposite.

@zerothought00 @bigbrownson Yeah but Jean isn't an Omega level mutant here. Even once she has her little power burst in the film, Parker still had to willingly let her in. Powerful telepaths like comic Jean and Xavier can bypass the noise, but this is temu Jean.

@FLimaxxx @bigbrownson I could entertain the idea that she could manipulate Professor Hulk since at least in the MCU it's technically Banner's psyche in the driver's seat. As soon as Savage Hulk showed up he threw her out. But yeah otherwise it's all very contrived.

@big_aysh The film established that DODC was already working on anti-mutant/anti-hero tech. Peter sped things up, but if he was capable of building the inhibitor in a crappy apartment lab, the DODC with all their funding and resources would have achieved the same thing.

@EternalRearmed @criticalhitsTV @bigbrownson Sure, but narratives need to have clearly established architecture/rules so that stakes and causes for action are legible to the audience. Otherwise, "it's fiction" can be used to justify any narrative betrayal which devalues audience investment.

Well she was briefly controlling Professor Hulk, I think that's why he's confused. It's not unreasonable that Jean can control the subdued Professor Hulk who maintains Banner's consciousness, but when Savage Hulk takes over, with his different brain chemistry and separate identity, he can force her out.
