If you don’t read you lose your ability to stay curious if you lose your ability to stay curious you lose your sense of fun if you lose your sense of fun you can’t feel pleasure if you can’t feel pleasure you stop caring about beauty if you stop caring about beauty your soul dies
The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE.....
It’s a pretty great feeling to have something you love doing that allows you nearly infinite room for improvement and consistently demands you stay on top of your game.
reading is tricky because it is so powerful.
it is not an objective good.
if you read the wrong things it can leave you dumber than if you didn't read at all.
But if you read the right things it can give you shortcuts to life
I dunno man. You either want it or you don't. You can keep using that diagnosis as an excuse. That trauma. Your shitty parents. The bully. You can lay under shreds of fetid shit your ex left behind and burrow beneath your shame. Or you can get the fuck up and take back your life.
Your ADHD isn’t making your life hard, YOUUUUUUU are making your life hard. YOU . YOU ARE THE ONE IN CONTROL. ITS YOUR FAULT! THE GREAT NEWS IS THAT YOU CAN FIX IT!! AND FIXING IT FEELS SO MUCH BETTER THAN PLAYING VICTIM TO YOUR MADE UP INTERNET-BORN “DISORDER” FOREVER
Jim Simons inspired us all to believe that with grit, determination, and a dash of innate talent, it's possible for anyone to live to 86 years old while maintaining a 40 a day chain smoking habit.
RIP to a real one.
Just my thoughts I wanted to share with you all. This isn’t me preaching and if it comes off that way, apologies in advance. It’s how I see life from my own perspective:
At my worst I can be arrogant, condescending, judgmental, and unforgiving.
Those aren’t traits to be proud of, but they are a part of who I am.
I can also be humble, generous, kind, accepting and that’s when I’m at my best.
I think this is true for most all of us. None of us are perfect and I think it’s a worthwhile exercise to acknowledge and be honest with yourself about the things that work for you, and also the parts that hinder you
Not to beat yourself up, because you are human and you are flawed…
Not to loathe yourself and think you are an awful person, simply to be cognizant of how you are being in any given situation and allow yourself a chance to ask the question, “Am I being the best version of myself right now?”
Recognize the behavior, and then maybe you can snap out of it into a better version of yourself more quickly with time and practice
You will always fail from time to time. The bad traits are still part of you and they won’t disappear, they will rear their ugly head from time to time… because you are human, and you are flawed
For me, my favorite characteristic in other humans is authenticity
Nothing more important to me, which is why @RadioAmanda was my dream girl.
I’d rather know you on your worst day than not truly know you at all.
Exercise causes muscles to act like a sponge and take up kynurenine, preventing its conversion to a neurotoxic agent implicated in depression.
A meta-analysis of 25 randomized controlled trials found aerobic exercise reduced depressive symptoms in people with depression.
Quinolinic acid - a neurotoxic agent implicated in depression - is formed from kynurenine, but exercise, particularly intense aerobic exercise, prevents this from happening.
This is just one of many mechanisms explaining why exercise helps with depression.

Intensive exercise, which generates a high degree of shear stress, destroys circulating tumor cells.
As a quirk of cancer cell biology, many types of metastatic cancer cells are vulnerable to shear stress created by blood flow itself.
However, it's important to recognize that not all cancer cells are equally sensitive to mechanical stress.
On the other hand, this isn't the only aspect of exercise that acts as a tool to hamper cancer cells.
Even when focusing solely on the vascular system, exercise contributes to tumor vessel normalization.
This can enhance the effectiveness of therapeutics by improving their access to tumors, illustrating how exercise can be a complementary therapeutic strategy even alongside other treatments.
Nor is exercise a perfect solution: very active people do sometimes get cancer, obviously.
But, for many of us, the fact that exercise can help and also be a tool of prevention can be a very empowering message.
