@Puru_Ai@TheWarLife For example, people point out that Frieren demons still emote when no humans are present, as proof that makes them conscious. There is something to be said about that, and how AI researchers anthropomorphize the agents the "thoughts" of agents they are looking at.
@Puru_Ai@TheWarLife I've certainly heard "cook" be used as a compliment. Almost like a rhetorical question, not really awaiting an answer.
But suppose it was a command, then it was kind of directionless for me to answer, no? There are ways to expand on this idea, but you do need a hook.
@Puru_Ai@TheWarLife What was there to explain? "Cook" was a compliment, and I didn't want people to get the wrong idea that I've said something innovative. "Reheating" was a deprecating way to put that.
Don't really think it reflects on my understanding of the subject
@Puru_Ai@TheWarLife ??? I said it because I find it an interesting idea that fit the situation, and I didn't want it to be left unsaid.
I don't see how anything I said indicates I don't understand what I'm talking about, or how it leaves me criticized by the show?
@TheWarLife Unfortunately, not an idea I've arrived at independently. I'm reheating takes I've heard thrown around for a while.
Surprised it hadn't caught on in popularity, I would have expected it to be brought up as a response to the initial tweets.
@bolibober@_violinski@axiochrono He always said his endgoal was not having to work, so at least he's consistent on that. Doesn't really make him endearing though.
Tbh, after trying a few episodes of Cortex and hearing his tech and self-help takes, it really soured me on him in general
In middle school I read Isaac Asimov's The Last Question. I proceeded to shape my entire understanding mankind's future and development around it.
In retrospect, might have been wiser to have picked another story to base my worldview on. The Time Machine by Wells comes to mind.
@johncrickett "Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you"
If AI is the catalyst that enables an environment where you can get by without those qualities, I don't think it's unfair to single it out as the threat. Time will tell.
@3ncrypt10nb0y@nise_yoshimi Investing hard work into a project with the goal of saving effort in the long run has been a core ethos of the programming world... for basically as long as it existed
@naughtyrobot725 Reminds me a bit of a quote of Fernando Pessoa on literature. I think it touches upon a similar idea of escapism.
When I first read it, my immediate thought was if the evolution of cinema after his death would have changed his mind.
