Richard Childress asked how he's holding up and if losing Kyle Busch feels like 2001 - when RCR lost Dale Earnhardt - all over again.
"It's challenging. I mean, both of them - you lose two of the greatest drivers that's ever driven a car in NASCAR - and have to go through it again. I just feel so, so bad for the family and the employees and everybody.
"Yeah, I mean, it's - I haven't slept very good lately. I'll leave it at that."
Richard Childress reveals that he was supposed to announce today that Kyle Busch was going to return to Richard Childress Racing for the 2027 season. They had wanted to make the announcement alongside GM/Chevrolet.
Childress says he had spoken to Kyle the Tuesday night before he fell ill. Kyle told him "you give me cars like you've gave me the last three weeks, I will make the Chase this year."
Dale Earnhardt Jr. came over to Cleetus McFarland in post-race. Looked like they had a nice conversation with Jr. leaning in the window
Cleetus finishes 35th but a much smoother race this time in terms of just keeping it on the track
A change for the RCR 8/33 team this week: Austin Hill's name now sits above the namerail. The namerail on this car was left blank a week ago
Kyle Busch's No. 8 continues to sit just below the driver's side window in his memory.
Touching gesture by Dale Earnhardt Jr. & the @DirtyMoMedia crowd as they switched all the diecast on their podcast table to Kyle Busch diecast.

Was looking through texts with KB and was reminded of a funny story. @CoreyLaJoie does a charity kickball game every fall. Few years ago KB and I were on the same team.
I caught a line drive down the 3rd base line from @Blaney. Separated my shoulder/sprained AC joint. Very painful.
I wasn't sure I should keep playing.
KB, flashing trademark smartass grin, walks over and says, I won a championship with broken legs p----! Suck it up!
Classic KB.
NASCAR race teams are back to work today after Memorial Day. There have been a number of visitors to Spire Motorsports, which was once the Kyle Busch Motorsports shop.
A memorial includes Busch's winning truck from Dover, with the team's win banner hanging just overhead.
On the plane ride home and scrolling back through old texts in search of some smiles after a sad week. Thought you guys might like this one. I was on Sirius one time and my phone suddenly blew up…
