I BET YOU DIDN'Y KNOW ABOUT THIS: AFTER FLIGHT 77 HIT THE PENTAGON ON 9/11, THE FOLLOWING HAPPENED.

A daycare facility inside the Pentagon had many children, including infants who were in heavy cribs. The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do.

There were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants who would need to be taken out with the cribs. There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers.

Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, "Well, here we are, on our own."

About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 other Marines in tow.

Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers.

The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac .

Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing - they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the Old West.

Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to keep them from wandering off.

Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children.

The chaplain then said, "I don't think any of us saw nor heard of this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there.” There wasn't a dry eye in the room.

The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted; could we expect any less from them? It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon.

It's the military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

It's the military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag.

If you care to offer the smallest token of recognition and appreciation for the military, please pass this on and pray for our men and women, who have served and are currently serving our country, and honor the memory of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice!

A janitor at Boston College worked the overnight shift for more than 20 years. Not because he had to. Because the university has a policy that lets employees' children attend tuition free.

Fred Vautour took the job with a plan. If he worked at Boston College, his kids could go there for nothing. All they had to do was get accepted.

All five of them did.

His oldest, Amy, started in 1998. His youngest, Alicia, graduated in May 2016. One by one, each of his children applied, got in, and earned their degree from one of the top private universities in the country without paying a dime in tuition.

The family saved an estimated $700,000.

Vautour cleaned bathrooms and mopped floors on the graveyard shift while his children slept in dorm rooms down the hall. He never asked for recognition. He just kept showing up, year after year, so they wouldn't have to carry debt.

This is Bonnie Pierce, a 38-year-old mother of three from St. Paul, Minnesota. Her house caught fire. She and two of her children escaped, then realized her toddler was still inside.
Bonnie went back in, found the child, but could not get out. She shielded the child with her body. She died from her burns. The child survived.
A GoFundMe for her family raised about $42,000.
By comparison, more than $1,000,000 was raised on GoFundMe for Lindsay Clancy, who was charged with killing her children.
It is a sad reflection of the society we have become.

Here is one of the boldest operations of the entire war, and it ended in a gut punch almost no movie would dare to write.

By 1970 American prisoners of war had been rotting in North Vietnamese prisons for years, tortured, starving, and cut off. Intelligence identified a POW camp at Son Tay, holding perhaps 70 Americans. The catch was its location. Son Tay sat just 23 miles from Hanoi, in the most heavily defended airspace on the planet, deep inside North Vietnam. Rescuing men from there was considered nearly insane. They decided to try anyway.

They built a full scale replica of the Son Tay camp and a force of 56 Green Berets under a legendary colonel named Bull Simons rehearsed the raid over 170 times until they could do every step in the dark, half asleep. On the night of November 21, 1970, they flew helicopters low through the night, hundreds of miles into North Vietnam, right up to the walls of the prison. One helicopter deliberately crash landed inside the compound to put assault troops right on top of the guards. In minutes the raiders killed the defenders and took the camp, exactly as rehearsed. A captain named Dick Meadows raised a bullhorn and called out to the cell blocks, we are Americans, this is a rescue, we are here to get you out.

Silence. They went cell to cell. The camp was empty. The prisoners were gone.

What no one had told the men two hours before launch was that flooding had forced the North Vietnamese to move the POWs to another camp weeks earlier. The raiders had flown into the heart of enemy territory, executed a flawless assault, and found no one to save. They were on the ground just 27 minutes, blew up what they could, and flew back out. Every single raider came home, with only two minor injuries. It was, tactically, a perfect operation aimed at an empty building.

And here is the strange, redeeming twist. Even though it rescued no one, the Son Tay raid mattered. The North Vietnamese were so shaken that Americans had slipped in and out of their country, right next to Hanoi, that they pulled the scattered POWs out of the small camps and packed them together into the central prisons. For the prisoners, that was a gift. After years in isolation, suddenly they were together, able to organize, communicate, and support each other, and their morale soared when they learned there had been a raid, because it meant their country had not forgotten them and was willing to fly into hell to try to bring them home.

🚨 🇩🇪 GERMANY: Her name was Maria Landenburger, a 19-year-old medical student from Germany.

One day, while she was in a park, she was attacked by an Afghani migrant, Hussein Khavari. He chased her, pushed her to the ground, and knocked her off her bicycle.

As she lay there, he strangled her and repeatedly raped her before leaving her unconscious on the riverbank, where she ultimately drowned.

Police later identified him through DNA evidence. He was eventually convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for rape and murder.

It later emerged that, before arriving in Germany, he had already served time in Greece for attempting to rob and murder another young woman.

Fred Zabitosky was a barber's son from New Jersey who joined the Army in 1959 and found his place in the most secret unit of the war, MACV-SOG. These were the Green Berets who ran tiny reconnaissance teams across the borders into Laos and Cambodia, into the enemy's own backyard, where officially no Americans were operating at all. On February 19, 1968, one of those missions nearly killed him twice.

Zabitosky led a small recon team, a few Americans and a handful of Nung tribesmen, deep into Laos to watch the Ho Chi Minh Trail. They were spotted, and a huge North Vietnamese force, hundreds of men, came after the dozen of them. Zabitosky rallied his team, put them in a defense, and directed their fire while completely exposing himself to the enemy. Then he ran a fighting withdrawal, pulling his men back toward a clearing where helicopters could get them, personally covering the retreat with his rifle and grenades, again and again standing in the open to hold the enemy off.

The helicopters came in through a storm of fire. Zabitosky loaded his men aboard first. As his own aircraft lifted off, it was riddled with bullets, spun out of control, and crashed. Zabitosky was thrown clear as it went down, and he came to with a broken back and cracked ribs, on the ground, next to the burning wreck with his crew still trapped inside and enemy closing in.

He went back into the fire. Despite his shattered body, Zabitosky crawled to the flaming helicopter and dragged the unconscious pilot out through the flames, then went back a second time for the badly burned copilot, pulling him free as ammunition cooked off around them. He hauled both men to a second helicopter, got them aboard, and then passed out. People who saw him thought he was dead.

He lived. President Nixon gave Fred Zabitosky the Medal of Honor in 1969. He stayed in the Army, retired a master sergeant, and died in 1996. A barber's son who fought a battalion with a dozen men and then crawled into a burning helicopter with a broken back to save the crew, in a war his country would not admit it was fighting.
