Maybe, instead of National Service for 18 year olds they should introduce national service for MPs.
They all have to do several weeks volunteering in a school, GP, hospital, care home, social care and police within their first 12 months in office.
Everything they are doing to the NHS, they did to British Rail:
* Underfunded it
* Exhausted the service
* Got the public angry
* Then said privatisation is the solution
Please RT if you can see what is going on
@malt_dismay@GeorgeMonbiot Plenty of places now offer support for eco/climate-anxiety. YouTube would be a good place to start. Also, block negative media outlets on your socials, and join environmental groups/forums online or in-person. Being part of the solution is the best place to be.
@UniOfYork@AnthropoceneBio Interesting to see conservation efforts are working their magic, but biodiversity will still be in a general decline in most G20 countries by mid-century.. https://t.co/Vf8SpqrJ8X
We’ve just joined the fight against Sunak’s outrageous decision to allow oil drilling in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
We’re supporting a legal challenge, led by SOS Biscathorpe - a fabulous group of people who’ve been campaigning since 2014 to protect the Wolds from this disaster of a project. Lincolnshire Council turned the project down but in a shocking turn of events, a government-appointed Planning Inspector has granted permission. Despite acknowledging the harm and the violation of local planning policies, the Inspector claimed that oil drilling was in the "public interest."
This decision, if allowed to stand, flies in the face of global efforts to combat climate change. In the words of the UN general secretary - drilling for more oil and gas now is moral and economic madness. And that’s the chosen path of this Conservative government under @RishiSunak.
Get involved if you can so we can put a stop to this: https://t.co/PA1CWcek00
World will look back at 2023 as year humanity exposed its inability to tackle climate crisis. If we continue along the current path, 2023 [the worst extreme year ever] will first be accepted as a new normal, then looked back upon as a gentle and cool year https://t.co/hTMBSvonPx
Most folks think "climate" is the issue. Lets fix the climate. Blah blah blah.
But the predicament is much bigger than that. Every Earth system is failing: atmosphere, soils, water, cryosphere, biodiversity, and degradation of the geosphere.
Everything is f&%ked.
@NationalHways putting a 2 mile lane closure for an "incident" and dropping us to 40mph on the M1 nb j29-29a for zero reason. Was it to clear the lane for workers parked up on the slip road waiting to put their cones out to pasture for the next few months?
@lynda_lambert @georgecmcgavin @Dr_Walker I believe we are in the minority financially. If we were allowed to be as vocal as those causing these issues, they would be drowned out.
We’ve lost quite a few followers this week for being critical of the Conservatives.
But we can’t just sit back and watch them destroy the NHS.
So please follow and RT if you stand with us and help us fight for better.
@bdnews24@piersmorgan@OfficialNTAs Get off your phone while driving! Also, don't be so lazy by driving 1 mile, and maybe check your route before setting off!
Disgusted by @HalifaxBank for always having "encountered a problem" when I (unemployed/SAHM) try to open a Jr. Cash ISA, but my working husband can no bother 20 seconds later. I don't see the issue if it costs nothing to open or maintain. #discrimination@MartinSLewis
@georgecmcgavin I'm convinced we don't need all these extra houses. We can't build forever, but if we really must, why not upwards instead of destroying more land building outwards? I'm not saying skyscrapers, but 2-3 storey blocks of flats or something, with PV panels and green rooves?
@EnglishHeritage, after visiting Norham Castle, I gained the question: Too much red tape or too unfeasible to rebuild small rooms of ruined castles to historical accuracy using authentic methods? Could recoup some cost through venue hire (e.g themed weddings)? I.e. NC Great hall
