@Asandax6@HeckViktor@daneilonyx I don’t think so; he might not be able to be sealed away like Aizen, and what’s more, he’ll be saved thanks to The Almighty. It’s not because of his physical strength, but because of The Almighty he possesses that he cannot be stopped.
@hrafi751@HeckViktor@daneilonyx Yes, it's even more powerful. But that arrow is meant to halt Yhwach's power for a certain period of time and as long as he isn't struck by it, nothing else works.
BioWare Is Dead — And It Died Years Ago. Stop Mourning a Corpse You Never Actually Knew.
Let me say the thing that apparently nobody on the internet wants to say out loud: the BioWare that got shut down is not the BioWare you loved. It's not even a distant cousin. It's a ship of Theseus that replaced every plank, every beam, and the entire crew, then slapped the old name on the hull and sailed it into an iceberg.
So when I see people posting weepy tributes, "end of an era" threads, and "gaming will never be the same" takes, all I can think is: which era, exactly? Because the era you're mourning ended somewhere around 2012, and most of the people crying about it were still in diapers when it happened, or at least acting like it.
The People Who Made Those Games Great Are Long Gone.
This is the part that everyone conveniently memory-holes. The Mass Effect trilogy and the original Dragon Age games weren't magic. They were made by specific, talented, passionate human beings and basically all of them walked out the door years ago, some of them practically chased out. Writers, designers, directors, composers.
The people who actually understood what made those games work bailed on this studio and moved on to other projects, and a bunch of them started their own studios because they wanted to make the kinds of games BioWare stopped letting them make.
What's left is a corporate husk wearing a legacy brand like a skinsuit. The logo is the same. The output is not.
The New Mass Effect Was Going to Ruin the Franchise Anyway.
And here's the spicy part: the cancelled Mass Effect? Good riddance. Who gives a shit. We all know exactly how that was going to go, because we just watched the dress rehearsal. Dragon Age: The Veilguard didn't just fail to live up to the legacy, it took a steaming dump on it, sanded off everything that made the IP distinctive, and handed back a sanitized and insufferable DEI woke lecture, a quippy little theme park version of a world that used to have teeth.
That was BioWare's current creative ceiling. That's the studio that was going to steward Mass Effect. The best possible outcome for that franchise was for the next game to simply never come out, because a bad Mass Effect doesn't just disappoint you for a weekend, it retroactively contaminates the good ones. It becomes the thing you have to explain away. It becomes canon. It becomes the most recent thing the franchise said. A cancelled game is a mystery. A bad game is a scar.
Meanwhile, the Actual Talent Is Making Something Better.
The people who made Mass Effect good in the first place, a whole crew of them are making EXODUS, and it looks absolutely incredible. Not "incredible for a crowdfunded spiritual successor," not "incredible considering the budget." Just incredible, full stop.
Better than anything BioWare had cooking, and it's not close. The proof is right there: the talent didn't evaporate, it relocated. It just didn't relocate at BioWare, because BioWare stopped being a place talent wanted to be.
Which is the whole point. If you want the real successor to Mass Effect, you don't wait for the logo. You follow the humans. The logo has been coasting on borrowed credibility for over a decade.
I'm Not Sad. I'm Delighted.
I give zero shits about BioWare closing. Less than zero. I'm actively happy about it. Ecstatic. The bill came due and it's time to pay up. This isn't a tragedy, it's a foreclosure on a house that's been structurally unsound since the Obama administration and has been rented out to strangers ever since.
I want the same thing to happen to a whole list of other studios coasting on ancient goodwill: Insomniac, Naughty Dog, Ubisoft, Halo Studios, The Coalition, and plenty more.
Every one of them is a name trading on a reputation its current staff didn't earn. Ubisoft especially that one's not even controversial, that's just overdue. But Naughty Dog hasn't made the game people think it makes in over a decade, Insomniac is a Marvel content mill now, and Halo Studios is a name change pretending to be a fresh start.
The pattern is always identical: beloved studio → founders and key talent leave → brand gets acquired or hollowed out → mediocre sequel →preformative surprise when the next one's worse → "end of an era" posts. Wash, rinse, repeat. At some point you have to stop being surprised.
The Lamenters Are Ignorant and Blind.
So yeah, the people crying about BioWare's death are, almost without exception, people who never actually checked who was still there. They see the logo and feel a feeling.
They're mourning a vibe, a memory, a version of the studio that stopped existing before some of them even had a Steam account. And they'll do it again next time, and the time after that, because they refuse to learn the single most basic lesson of this industry: studios are not the people, and the name on the box is not a promise.
BioWare is dead. It's been dead. The shutdown is just the paperwork catching up to reality. Light a candle if it makes you feel better, but be happy. This is the good outcome. The talent got out alive, and they're building something better while the corpse finally gets buried.

A Google Play user says he purchased Lord of the Rings Extended Trilogy suddenly disappeared from their library after Google removed it from its catalog.
According to screenshots shared by the user, Google Support confirmed the films were no longer available and said they couldn’t issue a refund because the purchase was made in 2022, which is outside the company’s standard 120-day refund window.
“I bought these in 2022, all of a sudden they aren’t available and there is no possibility of a refund or gift card. Hardly seems fair.”
