Remember that recent uproar about the #IAF using #Uber for mobility for their personnel? This raised flags about the data security of the #IAF personnel, as it could potentially expose #sensitive data about the movements of the personnel. The internet was buzzing with tweets, and comments after the news went viral.

While fingers point and opinions divide, it got us thinking shouldn’t we be more proactive about data security, especially regarding our armed forces? Why do we rely on foreign companies when we have the talent and resources to build our solutions?

Our experience in #Cybersecurity has made us believe it is possible to build a solution. We support the clause of keeping #Indiandata within the borders. However, it could be a lengthy process of amending and passing a bill considering all the pushback from the corporates as India is an open economy. What to do till then? Do we let foreign companies use our data?

Meanwhile, would it be possible to create a framework only for the sensitive defence and government data to remain in India and not be kept on any private/public clouds outside the country? We could put a framework in place where applications like Uber can continue to work as expected, but they fetch and keep the data on India-protected servers. The usage and accessibility of data will be completely transparent to Indian authorities. Each #API can be validated. Any data traveling out of Indian servers will be #encrypted and can be #decrypted via a centrally hosted service again under #Indianauthorities.

While it doesn’t completely close all the gaps, it holds corporates accountable. If there is a #dataleak, we can trace it back to the source. This is just a starting point to get the ball rolling. We can refine it and add more specifics if we have the right team to work on it.

Last Sunday we celebrated our 7th anniversary. The journey began in 2017 from the kitchen of an apartment with 2 Co-Founders to a team of 30+ today. On the way we met many people, tasted success & failure and learned our lessons. Most importantly we learned to look within and became more and more self-aware as an organization. So we thought of naming the 'anniversary celebration event' #Antarang, a journey of self-reflection.

We are grateful to everyone who has contributed to our growth. We appreciate our clients for their belief in us. #Antarang was a way to honour the past and toast many more years of success!

This month we extended an invitation to Mr Prasad Deore for Tech Manthan. Mr. Deore is a Senior Director at the #DSCI (Data Security Council of India), a #NASSCOM initiative. With a robust skill set that includes IT Strategy, Coaching, Program Management, Global Delivery, Business Analysis and more, Mr Prasad Deore contributes valuable insights to the industry.

During his address to the VoidStarIndia Solutions LLP team, he discussed the first three phases of technological development from the 1990s to 2014, highlighting the onset of the Democratization of Technology. He elaborated on the 4th phase, the Technology Digital Public Infrastructure phase and India’s advancements in it. The phase has made data accessible at a planetary level, making #datasecurity and privacy paramount.
