I used to be so ashamed to tell people I am a victim/survivor of the grooming/rape gangs in the UK.

I felt dirty, like a slut, like I asked for it and embarrassed at how many men had touched me. I still feel this sometimes.

I know I am not the only girl that lives with this shame. It is so hard to overcome, especially when we get hate from people and those that say we deserved it.

It’s my reality though and I can’t change the past. I am just hoping somehow I can help others, especially young girls who could be at risk. 🤍

I once got told by an NHS therapist that I should “just get over what happened or it will ruin your life”.
I think I was 17 at this point. Our whole session was her being frustrated with me because I had “too much to share” in her words.
