WIRE: Iran's IRGC Navy says it captured one of the US military's newest unmanned submarines at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz at dawn today, calling it a "complex intelligence and operational" action.
The vehicle is an @anduriltech Dive-LD: a six-meter, three-ton autonomous survey submarine built for seabed mapping and intelligence collection, rated for ten days underwater and 6,000 meters of depth. Delivered to the US Navy's unmanned undersea squadron in 2025.
New photos show the white hull intact, half submerged and rigged to a crane sling at an Iranian pier. Iran now holds a current-generation US underwater platform in one piece.
Same position it was in with the Israeli Hermes 900 it took earlier in the war and handed to IRGC engineers. The RQ-170 captured in 2011 never left the country either.
Next stop for the hardware: Chinese and Russian engineers?
