Our valedictorian had a 4.8 GPA and a perfect 1600 SAT, only to get denied by UCB, Harvard, and MIT. He got into Cornell though, which is where he's going now. It's just how it is.

@mattjumbo @JodeciFinessin @jennxer74 @libsoftiktok My main thing with the guy complaining is that - unless I didn't hear - we don't know any of his extracurriculars. They're essential to applications to schools, especially UC's. On another note, acceptance rates for CS/Engineering majors range from around 2-5% for UC's.

Most of these schools are closer to around 3-4%, if not lower. Although if you have any further questions or things you'd like me to answer just let me know :)

@mattjumbo @JodeciFinessin @jennxer74 @libsoftiktok UC's are extremely competitive, whether you like it or not. Caltech and Stanford are self explanatory; basically the ivies of the west. Cal Poly SLO has become increasingly competitive recently too; I had friends with 4.6 GPA's and internships at UCLA/Boeing/Google denied there.
