@CharlieM_OBE I’m a cabdriver in London and 3 times this morning passengers have asked me to take them to Selfridges and John Lewis. I say I can’t get them there, they say is it a demo, I say no it’s closed permanently. They decide to go Harrods instead. Business killer.

One of the many cyclists who were ignoring the marshals and the signs and riding around in Oxford Street this evening.
He came up to us as I was about to do an interview for @itvlondon
He is with illuminati, so he can do as he likes, apparently.
@MikScarlet@MaryleboneAssoc Mik, am afraid it's worse than that.
You have not been forgotten. You have been sidelined.
@paulswaddle and I have raised access on numerous occasions but it seems to have been decided by the Mayor that this was not an issue.
I am sorry. Happy to meet with you to discuss.
A few things come to mind. What a way to kill nightlife even further. What about the people who rely on night buses to get to and from work? And surely this will make phone theft even easier. Those criminals on e-bikes are going to have a field day.
Oxford Street is traffic-free from today. Tim Barnes (@voteTimBarnes) told Sky News why the Mayor has done "completely the opposite" of Barcelona: the one great east-west road closed, traffic pushed into Mayfair, Soho, Marylebone and Fitzrovia. #WestminsterMatters#Westminster
So now we must use the tube only which costs double the amount?
£1.75 for the bus.
£3.50 for the tube.
Ofc, it hardly matters when you’re not someone who counts it all.
Entirely predictable, sadly.
I should think they will never try and have it here again.
Regent Street was blocked up for so long a rubbish lorry tried to pull out of the traffic at Oxford Circus and turn round.

The Ballon d'Or Ceremony has been delayed by 30 minutes due to the London traffic
The ceremony is taking place at the London Palladium off Oxford Circus
Today was the first day of @MayorofLondon Oxford Street pedestrianisation
'I visited the new Oxford Street – it’s a far cry from Sadiq Khan’s pedestrian ‘paradise’'

Westminster Council had a plan to transform Oxford Street that had cross-party support.
Sadiq Khan's power-grab has meant that millions of pounds of public money has been wasted on needlessly tearing those plans up to start again.
Struggling to understand any of @MayorofLondon's flustered, incoherent justifications for pedestrianising Oxford Street, on @BBCr4today.
Apparently people who can't walk very far have to understand that "change isn't easy for everyone". So tough shit, pensioners!
@LondonTrafficW1 The biggest issue remains petty crime.
That's all about his funding of the police.
If Oxford Street was ever going to prosper it needs more police with better resources.
Now it's pedestrianised, it will need even more.
No sign that's coming, sadly. We will keep lobbying.
“It’s going to be devastating” 🚕
A London black cab driver fears the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street could push traffic onto surrounding roads and make it harder for cabbies to earn a living.
But those behind the plans say their traffic modelling suggests this won't happen and that traffic will be monitored.
What do you think of the changes to Oxford Street?
