@AcunaPlusButler@BaseballWRLD_@Gutt_Feeling@mike_petriello Fair but I don’t see this as strong enough evidence that he wouldn’t. He didn’t start playing first till the very end of last year it’s not like he doesn’t know how to play other positions and hit
@BaseballWRLD_@Gutt_Feeling@mike_petriello I never said their WAR would be equal but I think then you can make a real case between over reliance on OAA compared to other metrics, maybe his RBI totals does mean more when it’s a closer race, etc.
@mike_petriello@BaseballWRLD_@Gutt_Feeling Well yes but based on his time there and just from watching I think he can definitely hold his own. Maybe not average but definitely not awful. Considering the other production they’ve gotten at 3rd it’s certainly worthwhile to see if he can
@BaseballWRLD_@Gutt_Feeling@mike_petriello Reds should’ve just had Sal play third all year and then this conversation would be more interesting. Unfortunately the gap is too big for him to make up. Unless he just starts raking at a new level rest of the way and Wetherholt and other candidates fall
@mike_petriello@yankeeball2424 It shouldn’t be Sal probably but he has been remarkably good in RBI opportunities. I guess the question of the value there comes down to whether that’s variance or a skill. History would say it’s just variance correct?
@Malik_Elitee@nic_rohloff@finsfann14 Again I’m not saying they should be trading away draft picks. My point is that they should be looking everywhere they can for value advantages. Yes they want the rookies to have experience but that doesn’t mean fully relying on them the whole year. They are gonna get beat up
@Malik_Elitee@nic_rohloff@finsfann14 Tolbert isn’t good either, boutte is probably better at what he does than Tolbert is at what he does. Agree with playing rookies but if you only keep 5 you’re really only keeping 4.5
@Malik_Elitee@nic_rohloff@finsfann14 Dolphins aren’t good enough to be saying no to useful players. They have the 3 rookies + Washington and literally nothing after that. Bell isn’t going to be ramped up immediately and you need more anyways. Not saying they should’ve traded capital but they need players everywhere
@nic_rohloff@finsfann14@Malik_Elitee Boutte is good but reliable is not the word for him. Way too easy to reroute and disrupt. But he’s definitely a useful player
@IISwitch2II I don’t think it has a chance of being an individually above average pitch. But if he can get the elite command of it back then it could play above average especially with his other pitches being strong.
@RedsInFour I’d like to think so but I think the answer is definitely no. You can have as bad as production as they’ve had from RF and 3B. Maybe if Elly turns into the best player ever but a .900 OPS version of Elly isn’t raising them that much further
@JoeyVotto@OhioSports4 I’m sure there’s a plan but they strike out looking so often, I think the most in the big leagues. But they also chase so clearly something isn’t being executed very well
@JoeyVotto Heavy reliance on Elly, Sal, and Bleday. Stephenson and McLain have have moments but really it’s mostly been living and dying with those 3. RF and 3B production have been more or less as bad as you can imagine.
