Today we had the pleasure of Charlotte, Sophie’s Mum, joining us at Southend Hospital to raise awareness of the launch of Sophie’s Legacy on our children’s ward.
Southend’s general acute Paediatric ward have an exciting band 6 role currently out to advert. If you have the passion and drive to provide excellent patient care for all children and their families, then we want you!

It is with deep and profound sadness that West Ham United confirm the tragic passing of our U15s Academy goalkeeper Oscar Fairs, following his brave battle with cancer.
Rest in peace, brave Oscar.
How wrong our society is. The poor police officer’s name was released for the world to see, to judge and to make comment on, all for doing his job. However, the real criminal has been ‘protected’ throughout and only today has the world found out the truth about his history.
Now reporting restrictions have been lifted we are able to say Chris Kaba was a notorious violent armed criminal gang member.
We were not allowed to report this until today.
Kaba's mother applied to extend reporting restrictions beyond the end of the trial, but she has failed.
“I think firearms officers are being treated like second-class citizens.”
@Ex_arv_sgt tells @TomSwarbrick1 that it is ‘outrageous’ the Chris Kaba shooting went to trial.
BREAKING NEWS; I’ve had a contact inform me that Court Order is being requested to prevent Chris Kaba’s Previous History being made Public; I’m awaiting confirmation But if True it Will show True Character of who MET Police were dealing with; Some will know what I’m talking about
@NormanBrennan Will the BBC, Guardian et al be applying to the courts for that to be released with as much fervour as they did the firearms officer’s identity?
We wouldn't say, I don't think, that nurses 'support' doctors; we would say that they work 'with' doctors & vice versa. It should be the same for unreg' staff - HCAs work 'with 'nurses (or midwives, or physios..) Language matters. It shapes culture.
Southend Paediatric team at the EPR preparedness service event. Was great to be able to have a voice for the future system. Exciting times ahead. @nicki_abbott

It made me cry this morning
As we head into #BabyLossAwarenessWeek this is the gut wrenching reality of baby loss
He was loving.
He was beautiful.
He loved sausage rolls.
He had a sweet smell.
He had the best smile.
He had the softest hair
Was. Loved. Had.
We will never know what would be.

As nurses we have the honour and privilege to be trusted by individuals to care and help their loved ones. The fact that someone could abuse such trust and inflict so much hurt to all the families is incomprehensible. Justice will never bring those loved ones back 💔
