🚨‼️A counterfeit always flatters the flesh before it fools the mind. That is why the modern tongues movement has spread so easily. It gives a man something he can perform, something he can point to, something he can use to feel spiritual, and something he can quietly hold over the heads of other believers. The old gift in scripture was a sign with a purpose. The new imitation is a badge with an attitude. One pointed to what God was doing. The other points back to the person doing it.

Biblical tongues did not turn church into a room full of vague noises, repeated syllables, and emotional confusion. Biblical tongues were real languages, tied to a real sign, under real rules, for a real purpose. But the modern movement has taken what was temporary, specific, and governed, and turned it into a fog bank where nobody knows what is being said, nobody can test what is happening, and everybody is expected to call the whole mess holy because the room feels charged. That is not deeper life. That is dressed-up confusion.

A lot of people are not defending tongues because they have carefully studied Acts 2 and 1 Corinthians 12 through 14. They are defending an experience, a memory, a church culture, a leader, or a feeling they do not want challenged. That is why the issue gets so touchy so fast. Once a man builds his spiritual identity on a sensation, scripture starts feeling like an attack instead of a light. But the word of God was never given to protect your favorite atmosphere. It was given to correct you when your atmosphere lies to you.

The final test is brutally simple. Does it match the Book? If it does not match Acts 2, if it does not obey 1 Corinthians 14, if it creates a spiritual class system Paul rejected, if it needs pressure and repetition to keep going, and if it makes people trust experience over scripture, then it is not the Holy Ghost no matter how loudly the crowd shouts. Truth does not need a fog machine. Truth can stand in daylight.
