Today, as the Pulling Together Canoe Journey comes to an end, we reflect on the connections, stories, and spirit that have been carried along the way. May these teachings and connections continue into the future and be passed on to the generations to come.

A massive thank you to everyone who made this journey possible, from the Host Nations for their overwhelming hospitality, to the Elders who shared their wisdom and knowledge, and to all the organizers, participants, volunteers, and supporters who worked together to make the journey run so smoothly.

It has been an incredible journey filled with connection, learning, culture, and community! 💛

While we have no information to suggest a similar incident could occur in Vancouver, we are closely monitoring the situation and connecting with members of Vancouver’s Sikh community to offer support and help address any safety concerns.

Yesterday marked Day 5 of paddling on the Pulling Together Canoe Journey!

According to one participant, the group paddled an impressive 32 km that day! The paddlers made their way from Kwikwetlem First Nation to Tsawwassen First Nation (Wellington Point Park).

A very special thank you to our host Nations, who have welcomed the 2026 Pulling Together Journey team with open arms and incredible hospitality. 🫶🫶

Yesterday marked Day 4 of paddling on the Pulling Together Canoe Journey! 🛶

Participants set out from Matsqui Regional Park and made their way through to Kwikwetlem First Nation.

A huge thank you to Kwikwetlem First Nation and to everyone involved in making this year’s Journey such a meaningful and successful event!

And a special shoutout to VPD’s Sgt. Stu Hurst and Cst. Gord Stokes for all their hard work, dedication, and efforts in helping to plan and organize this year’s Journey. 👏

Out On Patrol is proud to have a delegation of members in Amsterdam this week for the European LGBT Police Association (@lgbtpoliceeu) Conference.

Prior to the conference, we had the honour of visiting the Embassy of Canada to the Netherlands in The Hague. @CanEmbNL

We are grateful to Ambassador @AdsettHugh for welcoming our delegation and hosting us in his office, where we enjoyed engaging conversation with him and members of the Embassy team. We appreciated the opportunity to share the work of Out On Patrol and to have a productive conversation about the 5th World 2SLGBTQ+ Conference for Criminal Justice Professionals, which Out On Patrol is proud to be co-hosting with the BC Association of Chiefs of Police next year in Vancouver.

Our delegation included representatives from the Vancouver Police Department, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), demonstrating the strong collaboration between our organizations in advancing inclusion and supporting 2SLGBTQ+ criminal justice professionals.

A huge thank you to our CBSA board member and the CBSA Liaison Officer at the embassy for coordinating this visit, making this valuable opportunity possible.

The warm welcome and meaningful discussions set the stage for a productive week, and we look forward to continuing these important conversations throughout the EGPA Conference.

We can’t wait to welcome the global criminal justice community to Vancouver next year. 🇨🇦

This past Friday, July 24, our members had the pleasure of visiting Eagle's Nest Aboriginal Head Start Preschool.

The children were sworn in as Junior Police Officers for the day before getting the chance to explore our police vehicles and learn more about the work we do. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with some of our youngest community members while building positive relationships through fun and learning.

Today, VPD held its 9th annual Progressive Pride Flag Raising Ceremony!

Each year, we raise the Progressive Pride flag at VPD Headquarters to raise awareness, honour Vancouver's 2SLGBTQ+ community, and celebrate the start of Vancouver Pride Week!

This Sunday, VPD officers will be at Chong Lee Market (3818 Rupert Street) and T&T Supermarket (2206 Kingsway Avenue) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. raising awareness and distributing fraud prevention flyers in Chinese.

Come say hello, learn how to spot the warning signs, and take extra flyers to share with your family, friends, and neighbours. Together, we can help prevent more people from becoming victims.

VPD Class 178 and the VPD Indigenous Cadets spent the day in the Upper Squamish Valley participating in On the Land Cultural Training. They took part in Sweat Lodge teachings and had the opportunity to experience a Spirit Bath, gaining a deeper understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions.
