@nightingales2_2@LizWebsterSBF@OliFletcher Hi baz, we agree that it's possible to produce nutritious food without animal inputs, and there are examples of farmers doing this, but the majority of farmers are not there yet. Instead, we focus on areas of strong alignment such as the horrifyingly low standards for imports.
A major cabinet reshuffle in September significantly impacted the two relevant departments for food imports; DEFRA and DBT.

@dpjfoundation@royalwelshshow@oxfordfarming Sarah, Tom and Kerri set up Vegans Support the Farmers to build bridges with farmers and understand their points of view. Weโve had a blast running the half-marathons and fundraising for mental health support โ something that has touched all three of us and our families. 4/4
@dpjfoundation@royalwelshshow The charity is named after Daniel Picton-Jones, who took his life following struggles with his mental health. We had the privilege of hearing his wife, Emma, talk at @OxfordFarming about how she turned a tragedy into a positive force for change by creating The DPJ Foundation. 3/4
This week is #FarmSafetyWeek, a campaign run by @yellowwelliesUK to raise awareness on the physical and mental wellbeing challenges faced by farmers.
Food imports that donโt meet domestic production standards is an issue that negatively impacts the mental health of farmers.
We need to keep the pressure on so that fair imports stays at the top of their list.

On Tuesday the government released their โGood Food Cycleโ policy paper for their food strategy.
The paper identifies ten priority outcomes needed to build a thriving food sector, including upholding trade standards.
Over 30,000 signatures handed to the government!
Letting in cheap food thatโs illegal to produce here isnโt trade - itโs betrayal. We want food to be imported, but not at the expense of British farmers.

British farmers and animal advocates are united in their opposition to the Gulf Trade Dealโs compromise of welfare standards.
Agricultural imports should be legally required to adhere to the same standards as UK farmers.
