Parents who say sh*t like, "after everything I've done for you" don't understand the role. As a parent, you are not allowed to hold anything you do for your children over their head. Period. You brought them into this world. So it is your duty to clothe them, to feed them, to protect them, to make sure that they have direction for school, for their job, for their life, that's the role of a parent. Holding things over your kid's head like the amount of money or time they cost you in order to get them to do something you want them to do is straight up manipulation that is not parenting. They don't owe you sh*t and they deserve your love for free.

@BowTiedBroke High school/College is the same concept as corporate as far as who rlly cares abt u. I’ve seen it first hand at corporate jobs, people acted like they loved a few of these loyal employees to the company for 20-30 years. As soon as they retired/left nobody even talks to/about them

One of the biggest hits to me when I left corporate life was: I had been there almost 20 yrs & I thought they would be SHOCKED. But no one really even cared.

Like in high school, you think the quarterback is the most important person in school. And then you realize a few years later, no one gives a crap. Same can be said of corporate America. Everyone looks up to the VP’s, the executives, the CEO…like they’re some mystical Greek gods.

My daughter recently graduated high school and the guest speaker was a former NFL player. During the speech he asked “Who is the CEO of Universal Studios? Who is the CEO of this company and that company” as he spouted off the names of some other very large companies.

He then said “None of you know. And nobody really cares, outside of those working for the person. Go to work or go to college, work hard, but then start your own company. Your family and close friends are all that will matter in the long run.”

The grandson of the founders of the company I was at was fired shortly after left. His last name was on my paycheck. The place didn’t even skip a beat, the stock continues to trade, the company continues to run. We are all just gears in the machine.
