Launching J-PAL's Evidence Effect: Today, development funding is facing tough questions about its effectiveness, waste, and its very purpose. Meanwhile, nearly 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, and millions more are on the brink. In this moment of uncertainty, it’s more important than ever to focus on what truly works. Having spent almost my entire career working to improve policy with evidence, I know that development spending can and does improves lives in meaningful and measurable ways.
That’s why we’re launching The Evidence Effect: an ongoing series spotlighting practical lessons and examples of effective ways to save lives and alleviate poverty. Over the coming weeks, we’ll showcase programs that have made a real difference. My hope is that these insights will help inform the conversations shaping the future of development.
I invite you to follow along and share your thoughts on how we can make the most of development spending. Read more and explore the first set of examples in my opening post:
