It is Métis week, so today we learned about Métis beadwork and then did pointillism art inspired by the beading! #grade1 #cbe

Every day in grade one we do learning stations. This week we are practicing spelling 3 letter words, adding numbers on a number line, and writing “I see the ——“ sentences.

Last week we built houses to protect the little pigs from the big, bad wolf. All students’ houses withstood his breath!

We had so much fun doing pumpkin math! We predicted which of our two pumpkins would have more seeds, and then we used 100s charts to help us count them. Both pumpkins had over 300 seeds!

We had a beautiful walk to the ridge today! Students enjoyed learning on and from Na’a, and took time to sketch what they saw.

Today we played Power of Ten Memory with our grade 4 buddies!

It was so great to connect with so many families for parent-teacher conferences!

We made Ish art today! Students drew random lines with sharpie for 10 seconds and then had to decide what their lines reminded them of. Then, they used water colour paints to transform their lines into a picture. I was so impressed with their creativity!

Today we did a sit spot where we sat in one spot and used our senses to draw what we felt, saw, smelt, and heard.

We are building houses for our hedgehog Rosie! If you have any empty thin cardboard boxes like cereal or granola bar boxes, please send them tomorrow or Monday. Thanks!

Ms. Sarah visited our class yesterday and we talked what it means to feel connected to our spirits. Ask your child what makes them feel connected!

Students brought home their spider plants today. Ask your child what plants need to live. Have a great weekend!

Today we also learned about Terry Fox. We learned that in real life, heroes don’t wear capes or have special powers. They are just regular people who are brave and do things to help others.

Today we practiced matching numerals to words. We also used scissors for the first time this year!
