SAFETY FOR CHILDREN NOW
Today, Voices and Visuals Initiative (VVI) launches an online campaign to end violence against children under the slogan “Safety For Children Now.”
Our message is clear: safety must follow the child, wherever they are - at home, at school, in the community, online, at play and on the move.
Every child deserves to grow up free from physical violence, sexual abuse, emotional harm, exploitation and neglect. Protecting children requires daily action: listening without blame, teaching without violence, providing attentive care and responding promptly when a child needs help.
Through animated videos and practical messages, VVI will encourage parents, caregivers, teachers, community leaders and children themselves to help create safer environments. The campaign begins with Safety at Home, highlighting how everyday words, choices and actions can build children’s trust and protection.
We invite communities, schools, organisations and partners across Uganda to share the messages and take action. Listen to a child. Choose nonviolent discipline. Challenge harmful practices. Seek safe support when concerns arise.
Safety cannot wait. It must follow every child, everywhere.

Every family should be a place where people feel safe, respected, valued and loved — not threatened, abused or afraid.
Whether it happens between partners, parents, children or other family members, violence has no place in a healthy home.
If you or someone you know is experiencing violence, don’t stay silent. Report it to a trusted person, local authorities, or a safe support service. If there is immediate danger, seek emergency help and move to a safe place if you can.
Speak up. Report abuse. Protect one another. Build safer families.

Children may not be the ones being hurt, but they still feel the pain. Violence at home can leave children feeling afraid, confused and unsafe, affecting their emotional wellbeing.
As parents and caregivers, choose calm over violence. Listen to your children, reassure them, and seek support when conflict arises.
Every child deserves a home filled with safety, love and peace. Speak up. Protect children. Break the cycle. #EndGBV #ProtectChildren #SafeHomes #SafeFamilies #VVIUganda #TonkosakumaEmirembe

“Je, unajua kwamba ukatili wa majumbani unaweza kumwathiri mtu yeyote—wanawake, wanaume na watoto? Ni kweli pia kwamba wanaume wanaweza kukumbwa na ukatili wa majumbani.”
