I am in a state of dissociative awe by how incredibly stupid, dangerous, and idiotic this all is. Just the inevitable result of a generation of unserious leadership and Conservative and Canadian dysfunction. https://t.co/neFs58aMsI
Striking that the Liberals and Conservatives offer the same response to pain at the pump: siphon money out of the public purse instead of Big Oil’s profits.
Oil companies are on track to make tens of billions in windfall profits from Trump’s illegal war in Iran.
It’s their profiteering that’s driving up prices. It’s them who should pay.
It’s time for price caps on gas to stop oil companies from price-gouging Canadians — and a windfall profits tax on war-time oil revenues, so the government can invest that money in the public interest.

About a month ago I was reliably informed — by the most insufferable people on earth — that winning a single tournament means you automatically become the best in history at that sport.
Congrats to Venezuela, the greatest baseball country in the history of the game. 🇻🇪 🥳
Did you know?
The Provincial government has increased their property taxes on Calgarians by 57% over four years, well above inflation and population growth. They're now imposing the largest property tax hike in Calgary's history with a 21% increase, or about $350 for the typical family. This is MORE THAN DOUBLE what they're asking Edmonton to pay.
Meanwhile, our City Council team cares about affordability. We controlled costs, reduced a 5.4% tax increase to 1.6%, and are delivering on safety and core infrastructure investments.
Charging you more & giving you less.
That’s Danielle Smith & the UCP.
Never has an Alberta government spent so much to deliver so little.
Albertans deserve better. #ableg
The provincial government has just imposed the largest property tax increase on Calgarians in history.
In 2026, Alberta is increasing its share of your property tax bill by 21.05%. Nearly 42% of every residential property tax dollar now goes directly to the Province, and the City is legally required to collect this massive tax increase.
For a typical $706,000 home:
🔺 Province: +$339
🔹 City: +$49
We did our work to restrain spending while focusing on safety and core infrastructure. The City’s increase is 1.81%.
The total increase is about $388, with the overwhelming majority driven by the Province.

Your choice, Albertans: You can believe Premier Danielle Smith or the Data "In 1992, Alberta had approximately 11,700 hospital beds. Today, with nearly double the population and a much older demographic, we have roughly 8,800. This is not an Ottawa or immigration problem."
Why is Alberta broke?
The answer is actually bragged about in the provincial budget, every year.
Alberta could eliminate its debt, invest in services, save billions, and still have the lowest taxes in 🇨🇦.
Instead, immigrants are blamed. #ableg#cdnpoli
We are once again calling on UCP MLAs to sign a straightforward pledge to denounce separatism. As of Friday morning, all 38 of Alberta’s New Democrat MLAs have signed this pledge, and not a single UCP or Independent MLA has, including Premier Smith.
This should be an easy document for all Alberta elected officials to sign. Are UCP MLAs proud Albertans and proud Canadians? Or are they separatists? Their silence speaks volumes, and even the discussions around separatism put our economy and prosperity at risk.
And why does this matter? Because separatism doesn’t reduce the cost of living. Separatism doesn’t build hospital beds. Separatism doesn’t hire teachers. Separatism scares away investment, costs us jobs, and puts us in an extremely vulnerable position.
Separatism also threatens treaty rights, which are constitutionally protected. Treaties are not optional. Treaties are not an afterthought. Our province, country, and our constitution exist because of them.
We swore an oath of allegiance to our province and country. If Danielle Smith and the UCP can’t clearly denounce separatism and put the needs of Albertans first, then it’s time for a new government that will.
Albertans deserve absolute clarity from us, their elected officials. At this fragile time, we need to make sure our citizens know where we stand.
Yesterday, I asked all members of the Legislative Assembly to sign the pledge denouncing threats of separatism and stand proudly with Canadians.
The prosperity and future of our province depend on it.
We once had the best public education in the world, a reliable healthcare system, and a thriving economy.
But under the UCP, we've all but lost our advantage.
It doesn't have to be this way.
With Alberta's New Democrats, better is possible.
Once again, the UCP's attempts to distract from their horrific record have backfired.
Their own incompetence and inability to manage complex files have led to wasted time, wasted money, and unneeded stress.
Albertans deserve better.

When you build sprawl, you need to maintain it. It will cost YEG 4.4 billion to do that. Cars centric design drives low density development but provides little revenue to support it. When you hear people complaining about bike lanes they are distracting you from the root cause.

Alberta’s deficit jumped from $1.3B to $6.5B in just 5 months
A reminder that Danielle Smith BANNED $33B in green energy projects that could’ve created jobs & revenue.
This isn’t fiscal responsibility.
It’s self-sabotage.
The UCP is a disaster. Period.
America doesn’t have an abundance problem.
America has a hoarding problem — the rich are hoarding all the abundance for themselves.
Bill Burr summarizes it here.
WOW!
True North/Juno News just got slapped down hard by NDP leader Naheed Nenshi.
(While Nenshi also called out Niccolaides as well)

I will not apologize for the medical system. It has been destroyed purposely for profit by those who have no concern for the health of those who elected them. What continues to confound me is why those who voted for this believe that they won’t suffer the consequences.
