An overlooked rookie came over from Japan to a terrible White Sox team, barely spoke the language, but inspired everyone and changed the culture so much that the White Sox are a game away from the playoffs. It’s the best story in sports and no one is talking about it.
Umpire Doug Eddings went on a power trip during the bottom of the 6th in the Cardinals Rockies game.
First, he demanded that pitcher Hancel Rincon (in his MLB debut) straighten his hat since no one will wear a hat like that on "his field".
When manager Oli Marmol went to talk to Eddings about the hat incident during a pitching change, Eddings gave the Cardinals a pitch clock violation and ejected Marmol.
A couple batters later, with the Cardinals out of challenges, Eddings made a terrible call on a play at the plate to gift the Rockies the lead.

The #WhiteSox & Cleveland both have 25 gms left.
White Sox need to win 1 game vs the 3 they have remaining against the Guards so that they own the tiebreaker. This essentially gives them an extra game
Scenarios where Cleveland could win the division based on #WhiteSox record:
