@CentralScruty Yeah, and after Blade Runner 2049 lost money they immediately greenlit Blade Runner 2050 for $200 million, right? Oh wait, they funded Denis on something else instead. Almost like “great filmmaker” and “this specific project makes financial sense” are two different thoughts.
This is just consumerist wastefulness. Photography is overrated and people should do it less.
I have almost no photographs of myself and I regret nothing. "I wish I could look back on photos of me in the past" is a sentence I've never said. 🧵
You’re arguing with a point I never made. I didn’t say spending 10 hours with Abby magically excuses her or means you have to like her. I said actually inhabiting her perspective is part of how the game attempts to challenge your initial hatred of her. You can play all of it and still think it fails.
And on your second point, i believe putting her backstory before Joel’s death fundamentally changes the entire narrative experiment. The point was for you to hate her before the game forces you to understand her. Whether that works is the debate.
@KruegerGlove@glasspopcorn96 Ken just needs someone to pull the leash at times cause he just has too many ideas that he wants to incorporate in a game.
Just said this in a previous tweet but, The Last of Us Part II is probably one of the worst games to make this argument about because so much of what it’s trying to do depends on forcing you to inhabit these characters for hours. Whether that works is absolutely fair to debate, but experiencing Abby’s section yourself for 10+ hours is fundamentally different from watching somebody else do it while you’ve already decided you hate her.
You can absolutely criticize a game’s story after watching it. But if you’re going around talking authoritatively about the game as a whole while openly admitting you never touched it, people are completely justified in giving your opinion less weight.
Wow, almost like his last two games missed Sony’s revenue expectations and PHYSINT was already over budget and missing milestones. You people screamed for PlayStation to course correct, then when they actually make a hard business decision you start crying that they’re evil. Grow the fuck up.
