Binged through six episodes of Netflix's “Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem of Vengeance!” I checked it out because the Director and the CG director Erasmus Brosdau, the artist who previously created fan movies of Metal Gear Solid using the Unreal Engine.
The details of the mobile suits, the photorealistic CG, and the battles were all impressive, but the drama aspect was also really well done. The story masterfully incorporates war movie tropes: an entire squad wiped out, retreat, evacuation, regrouping with other units, another mission, escape, and showdown! I watched the Japanese dubbed version, and Hochu Otsuka also made an appearance.
