Next Stop 70 Hudson Yards!
U.S. Crane and Rigging’s highly skilled mechanics are preparing our Favco 440 diesel tower crane for its installation at 70 Hudson Yards.
Before erection, every crane undergoes a comprehensive, manufacturer-compliant inspection to ensure peak performance and long-term reliability. Shown here is the crane’s flywheel, which was entirely replaced as part of this process.
Our team performed a complete teardown and inspection of all major systems, including pumps, brakes, gearboxes, pinions, brake packs, and power packs. The engine and power pack assemblies were completely disassembled and rebuilt as needed, with critical components serviced to manufacturer specifications.
Work completed includes flywheel replacement, crankshaft seal replacement, flushing and servicing of planetary gearboxes, renewing wet-pack seals on pump motors, servicing the hydraulic and DEF systems, and complete inspection and servicing of the fire suppression system.
With this crane scheduled to remain in service for approximately 24 months, we leave nothing to chance—ensuring every component operates to the highest standard before it ever goes vertical.

Commercial Wallcovering vs Paint: Why Wallcoverings Last Longer
Why Choose Wallcovering over Paint?
Wallcovering vs Paint FAQ
These frequently asked questions explain the key differences between wallcovering and paint,
including durability, cost, maintenance, and design flexibility for commercial spaces.
Why is wallcovering considered more durable than paint?
Definition: Durability refers to how well a surface resists wear, damage, and long-term use in a space. Commercial wallcoverings are typically more durable than paint because they are designed to resist
scratches, dents, and high-traffic wear. While paint can chip, scuff, or fade over time, many
wallcoverings—especially vinyl—are built to withstand years of use with minimal visible damage.
Is wallcovering more cost-effective than paint over time?
Definition: Cost-effectiveness refers to the total cost of ownership over time, including maintenance and replacement. While wallcovering may have a higher upfront cost, it often becomes more cost-effective over time.
Paint typically requires repainting every few years, whereas wallcoverings can last 10–15 years or more,
reducing long-term labor and material costs.
What design advantages does wallcovering have over paint?
Definition: Design flexibility refers to the range of visual styles, textures, and customization options available for a surface. Wallcoverings offer significantly more design flexibility than paint, including patterns, textures,
murals, and branded graphics. They can replicate materials like wood, fabric, or stone and create
a more visually engaging environment than a flat painted surface.
Is wallcovering easier to maintain than paint?
Definition: Maintenance refers to the ongoing care required to keep a surface clean and looking new. Many commercial wallcoverings are designed to be washable and resistant to stains, making them
easier to maintain in high-use environments. Paint, on the other hand, often requires touch-ups
or full repainting to maintain a consistent appearance over time.
When should you choose wallcovering instead of paint?
Definition: Application choice refers to selecting the best material based on the needs of a space. Wallcovering is often the better choice in commercial environments where durability, branding,
and long-term appearance are important. It is commonly used in offices, hotels, healthcare spaces,
and retail environments where a more polished and long-lasting finish is needed.
