Newer fans won’t understand what could compel a man to subject himself to something like this.

The culture of ROH created an environment where everybody was giving 110% every night.

The landscape of independent wrestling was radically different. Opportunities to travel, make money, and wrestle in front of big audiences were so rare. Everybody was fighting for scraps. Everybody was hungry.

When you were in a big spot on the card, the pressure to perform or do something memorable was incredible. You know the old saying about diamonds, right?

We all did a lot of dangerous, reckless, and downright stupid stuff. Some more than others. That locker room just wanted to leave it all in the ring.

That’s why this era is remembered so fondly. That’s also why it will never be replicated.
