@RABSUB_TH I understand you guys. If the translation does its job well, making lots of us craking so hard, then it's alright. This isnt just a translation. This is transcreation and even localization. Diff culture means diff understanding. We cant just translate everything directly.

Hi! We’ve recently seen this scene circulating on social media regarding our translation. We’d like to explain what it’s about and why our team decided to use “witch” instead of “old hag,” “auntie,” or other similar words. In the scene, Jet shouted “II PA! (อีป้า)” which can literally mean “aunt,” “old hag,” or even “old bitch.” We chose to use “witch“ because in this scene, Ramphueng is meant to feel puzzled at first. The word witch carries a certain ambiguity. It can sound teasing or slightly rude, but not immediately harsh. In contrast, old hag would make the insult too direct from the beginning, while old auntie wouldn’t sound natural in English, convey the same nuance as the original, or be immediately understandable to non-Thai speakers. If we had used “You old hag” right there, the original humor would be lost, and Ramphueng’s reaction wouldn’t make sense among the audience who has no Thai/Asian-related background.
