As false spring rears it’s ugly head in Michigan, we’re making plans for this summer + how to escape next winter (and false spring!)
Stay tuned! I’ll be posting more here and picking the blog back up too! https://t.co/suj1KX62Oa
Last week’s camping adventure included some epic sunsets. First time on the east side of Michigan. It’s beautiful & quiet. Not crowded at all. A nice change from the western shore! https://t.co/DEhcyh9VDy
I took a girls trip to Florida. It was so wonderful to have a “normal” weekend with my girlfriends.
Also, this suit sums up our itinerary well 🍷 https://t.co/mwwFNSSLXz
This weekend I went to one of my favorite Michigan scenic sites. I also explored waterfalls and remote forest lakes.
It was a blissful weekend without cell signal in Michigan’s Upper Pennisula! 💚

There's just something about the vastness of the Great Lakes. I'm a little biased since I grew up so close to Lake Michigan, but I think it's something everyone should see in their lifetime!
How many of the Great Lakes have you visited? I've ch… https://t.co/3cIdPpm1e5
Empire Bluff Trail. Hands down one of the best bang for your buck trails in Northern Michigan. After a short hike you'll have amazing views of South Bar Lake, Lake Michigan, and the Village of Empire below.

Mission Point Lighthouse, one of 115 lighthouses in Michigan, is located just a few hundred yards from the 45th parallel. It’s also only a 30 minute drive from our house. We basically live halfway between the North Pole & the Equator (hence the fact it’s… https://t.co/6JzRtC1koI
It snowed yesterday 🤦🏼♀️ this photo is from just one week ago. Spring in Michigan is a roller coaster.
On the nice days, it’s fun to get out and enjoy the local wineries!
Did you know that Northern Michigan is home to over 50 wineries!?

The fog lifted off Lake Michigan while we explored the top of the bluff, it was a magical spring morning.
Fun fact: I took Mike here on a date in 2009. It was his first time hiking Empire Bluffs. 12 years later, its still a special spot for us.… https://t.co/bGxoaFiocL
Turquoise waters. In Michigan. If I can't live near the ocean, this will do.

Empire Bluff Trail. As a local living in a tourist destination, this remains one of my favorite hikes even though it's no longer a "secret".
The best time of year? Off-season. This was a foggy spring morning. We had the trail to ourselves for m… https://t.co/VBpZKWklia
Closing out our Shenandoah National Park scenic drive with this view from the turnout near Mary’s Rock Tunnel.
It’s one of the last views before you exit and I’m glad we decided to stop and take it in!

Which National Park reached 1 Million annual visits first? I bet you wouldn't guess Shenandoah!
Towards the end of our scenic drive, we came across Mary's Rock Tunnel.

There were so many scenic stops along Skyline Drive, but this view of Old Rag was one of my favorites.
I did not hike Old Rag on this trip, but it's on my bucket list. It's 9.5 miles, 2,500+ ft elevation gain. "Brutally Awesome" is my favorite … https://t.co/HkaESD9Jve
We went from the beach to the mountains. Skyline drive through Shenandoah National Park is definitely worth doing.
We were there a little too early to enjoy what we imagine would be a pretty magical spring scene.

There's something exciting about getting up to see the sunrise and bird watching. You never know what you'll find

There's something about when you cross the bridge from Bodie Island to Pea Island that feels a little magical.
Pea Island is a nature refuge, which means no development. It's just you, the birds, the sand, and the ocean.

We spotted a small pod of bottlenose dolphins right after sunrise at Pea Island Refuge! Dolphins migrate based on the season, often returning to the same area.

I’m already missing the beach a little bit. Even though it’s 10 degrees warmer in the mountains 🤷🏼♀️
I find wearing a fun, bright sweater when it’s colder than ideal helps brighten my mood!
What’s your go to cold weather pick me up?
