@MR_Subias @BurkettTiffani @OyinAtiOmi Drinking in excess isn’t new, but that it’s so commonplace & almost an expected “right of passage” when folks turn 21 is different than even 150 years ago. Ppl used to drink more at a celebration or holiday, but most ppl had to work 6-7 days a week so bar night wasn’t a thing.

@MR_Subias @BurkettTiffani @OyinAtiOmi True, but the alcohol content of ancient beer, wine, mead, etc was a lot less than the average mixed drink. Also, ppl now drink not just as a part of a meal, but go out with the sole purpose of consuming large amounts of alcohol.
