PSBlackout is gaining momentum.

Sony's decision to stop making physical discs for new PlayStation games after January 2028 has sparked a major backlash from fans and they have signed 3,45,000 petition to oppose it.

Here's what's happening:

🎮 PSBlackout is planned for August 23 to August 30
🚫 Players are being urged not to log into PSN, play online, or buy games during the protest.
✍️ A petition opposing Sony's decision has already surpassed 345,000 signatures.
💿 Fans say the move to an all-digital future reduces true game ownership, limits game preservation, and gives players fewer choices.
📉 Critics also point to PlayStation's shrinking lineup of first-party exclusives, saying the PS5 has far fewer than previous generations.
👀 Some gamers believe the protest won't change Sony's plans, while others say they may switch to platforms like Xbox if physical media support continues there.

Sony says the shift reflects changing consumer buying habits, with more players purchasing games digitally through the PlayStation Store.

Kaz Hirai, former chairman, CEO and president of Sony bowed down to apologize for the 24 day PlayStation blackout in 2011, which was an attack, not their own fault🚀

And now, it took them 30 days to issue a vague statement that boils down to “we have carefully considered ‘strong’ reactions but screw you antway”

Crazy to see how far Sony has fallen off, from this level of respecting players to whatever they are now.

Stop funding people that don’t respect you and only see you as a number, especially when their output is as abysmal and as overpriced as this generation.

We remember when video games were considered a niche hobby.

Back then, most big box retailers didn't care about stocking games. Independent game stores kept the hobby alive.

Then gaming exploded, and suddenly everyone wanted a piece of the action.

Now that many big box stores have empty shelves and games aren't the priority they once were, they've gone quiet.

Not us.

We'll keep fighting for physical games. We'll keep reprinting them. We'll keep proving they matter.

Because physical gaming is worth fighting for.
