Another very hot day. Whitechurch the highest in the UK at 31.8C, but beaten by Jersey at 33.7C - very hot for that island in May. Yesterday the island reached 34.2C

Over 22,000 strikes today , plenty of energy released by a relatively benign upper trough adding just enough cooler air aloft to steepen lapse rates to produce some decent CAPE.

Airmass imagery shows the minor upper shortwave moving north over Ireland, but continuing to further relax. It seems unlikely we will see much activity further east.

The heat builds back across the Midlands and Central tomorrow but should be a bit cooler in the SW
