I don't think you can yadda yadda over Odysseus only reaching home after he surrenders to the gods and dies to self. Nolan likely did not intend to make a "Christian movie," but nonetheless he made one with Christian morality and the True Myth at its core.

@brandon_d_smith Yes, he has a story “type” that he extends across various genres. You certainly see similar beats across all his movies. Someone said every movie he makes is him the story of him being guilty for leaving his kids behind to go make a movie. And … that kinda tracks.

There’s an interpretation of Nolan’s Odyssey that sees AI as the Trojan Horse for our day. In fact, he flatly called it that, but said the AI Trojan Horse was made of glass, so we could all see the “Greeks” hiding in it.

Because we know Netflix uses AI in their shows, the first thought I had when I saw this was they just asked an AI to make it look like a VHS. From what I could tell, it doesn't seem like that's how they made it, but that's what AI does to art. It invites skepticism.

To me, this is the most consequential image from The Odyssey—the encapsulation of defying the gods, which comes to mean something very different by the end of the film.
