NEW: Weed California police release bodycam of fatal shooting after suspect draws gun during traffic stop and meth discovery

On March 21, 2026, Weed Police officers stopped a vehicle on northbound Interstate 5 near Exit 748 for excessive window tint and an unsafe lane change.

During the search, officers discovered a large amount of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside a speaker.

The suspect, 35-year-old Carlos Aguilar Junior of Palmdale, was waiting in the passenger seat of an officer’s cruiser when he drew a firearm and pointed it at officers.

Officers returned fire, striking Aguilar. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
