So no; his exponential growth is NOT only when he get emotional, it simply just becomes rapid when he's emotional or in an actual fight!

That's just not true at all Saitama's growth is literally a passive thing, It's just that when he gets super emotional or is in a fight with someone who can keep up with him, his growth just becomes rapid.
