A Changing, Progressing and Stronger Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

The new provincial government’s Health Department has reactivated non-functional Mobile Drug Laboratories and launched modern on-site testing of medicine quality.

Under the supervision of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Nigar Johar, the Directorate General of Drug Control and Pharmacy Services has made previously unused mobile laboratory vehicles operational through new administrative arrangements. These vehicles had remained out of service for an extended period due to the incompetence of the previous government.

Equipped with advanced FTIR and Raman technologies, these mobile laboratories will now enable preliminary on-site testing of medicine quality across different divisions of the province.

The modern system will facilitate the timely identification of suspected counterfeit and substandard medicines, enhance the capacity of Drug Inspectors, and improve the process of sending samples for detailed laboratory testing whenever required.

Putting existing resources to effective use and adopting modern technology marks a practical step towards protecting public health.

🧵__There is a clear division within Iran into two camps regarding relations with the Taliban. The faction led by Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is completely opposed to any engagement with the Taliban, viewing the group as a serious threat to regional peace and security.

The second faction, which is closer to Iran's Supreme Leader, advocates for improving relations with the Taliban.

On the other hand, there is a growing trend of intensified activities by anti-Iran groups along the Iran-Afghanistan border, which is being fully facilitated by certain Taliban factions, particularly those aligned with India. It should be remembered that it was an Iranian lobby that initially facilitated negotiations and contacts between India and the Afghan Taliban. Now, the Afghan Taliban and its affiliated factions are carrying out operations against Iran. These activities are quite entrenched, and if they continue, the distance between Tehran and Kabul will increase and relations will eventually collapse.

However, Iran still maintains a soft corner for India, as evidenced by its recent permission for Indian oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. In my view, this will not create distance because there is a nexus comprising India, certain elements within Iran, and the Afghan Taliban that is actively working against Pakistan by providing safe havens to every terrorist group from the BLA to the TTP.

If Iran does not accept Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf's stance of severing ties with the Taliban, this threat in the coming days will prove to be not only a major danger for Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, but for Iran itself.
