The last few days presented a huge opportunity to the Tory leadership contenders to show, er, leadership. Apart from @MelJStride they have failed, @KemiBadenoch most of all. I can spot a “let’s see how it pans out” approach to “leadership” a mile off. Fanning culture wars is easy. Playing a positive leadership role in bringing a bad situation under control is hard.
