I'm really intrigued by the connection between rage and freedom. I don't know how I feel about it but I'm rolling it around in my head a lot. #bsueng490
There's transformations on so many levels in this film. Seeing her transform from killing people to now helping save them a couple of times is an interesting shift to watch! #bsueng490
I have my favorite snack or meal with me while I work, I have a Playlist of songs (without words) that help me focus, and I make sure to give myself little breaks here and there. #bsueng490
The scene of Donna with the Midwife looking at her Crossley because of her "disobedience" really got me because of how often stuff like that happens in hospitals everyday. #bsueng490
I was really drawn to the fact that all the jewels and such were specifically contained in coming from the mouth in "Precious" and how the silence became extra meaningful because of that. #bsueng490
I think the conversation theThe Lean Back podcast has about whether or not shame can be productive and the disagreement the two have about that idea is really interesting to me. #bsueng490
These first couple Skinfolk stories are definitely dark, but that darkness and the writing style made it feel sort of brothers Grimm or "Tales of Beetle the Bard" for any Harry Potter Fans. #bsueng490
I'd be really interested to see how the ending might have been different if the book had been full length. There was a level to which the hopefulness of the ending felt a little rushed but I appreciated the symbols of racial injustice discussed in this piece. #bsueng490
"As women, we must root our internalized patterns of oppression within ourselves if we are to move beyond the most superficial aspects of social change." #bsueng490
Seeing the themes of this class explored in so many different genres from historical fiction, to crime drama, to now, sci-fi is really fun. Excited to see where this goes! #bsueng490
Even though the whole house of roommates is in a way is responsible for Lexi's death, it was still sad to have everything so splintered off at the end which I think show how well this book makes you feel for that friendship so that when it's lost, it's still sad. #bsueng490
Obviously the Daniel conversation is big, but what I am still hung up on is Cassie burning the note that Ned leaves, I know she is undercover and the rules might be different but that felt like maybe not the best move when you're trying to figure out a murder. #bsueng490
That fact that we are over half way through the book and the conversations always boil down to Frank and Sam arguing over Cassie just shows why it took an actual incident for her to finally let them in more. #bsueng490
