Child marriage takes away more than a girl's basic rights. It can deny her the chance to experience childhood as she should.
Instead, she is often expected to take on adult responsibilities long before she is ready, putting her education, health, safety and future at risk.
As we get closer to the first International Day for the Elimination of Child Early and Forced Marriage, let’s pledge to end child marriage.

Advancing lasting peace in 🇸🇱!
With @moped2025, @UNICEFSL & @UNWOMEN_SL , @UNDPSierraLeone supported district consultations for the @UNPeacebuilding-funded SPESOCO project, engaging women, youth & local leaders to strengthen inclusive, nationally led conflict prevention.
Ending child marriage requires action at every level.
And all of us have a role to play.
Learn. Speak up. Ask questions. Take action.
Together, we can build a Child Marriage Free World.

Stronger partnerships. Better results for communities. #UNDP@UNDPSierraLeone’s two-day workshop commenced and is equipping implementing partners to plan, deliver and track programmes more effectively with accountability, inclusion and responsible use of resources at the core.
An International Day is a call to action.
We urge governments to turn this moment into budgeted action, stronger laws and real protection for children and survivors.
Together, let’s build a #ChildMarriageFreeWorld.

@JustRightsIntl
With November 27 now established as the #InternationalDayAgainstChildMarriage, the world has sent a clear message: child marriage can no longer be accepted as inevitable.
What began as a call led by our Founder, @Bhuwan_Ribhu , became a global movement through the collective resolve of Member States, governments, civil society organizations, child rights advocates, institutions, communities, and allies across the world.
We are grateful to the Member States that supported this landmark resolution and to every partner and ally whose leadership and sustained action helped turn a call into a global commitment.
This is the power of coalition leadership, uniting governments, institutions, civil society, and communities around a shared purpose: protecting every child and ensuring accountability for crimes against them.
Now, the International Day must translate recognition into decisive action, stronger accountability, effective implementation of laws, and coordinated global efforts to end child marriage.
The mission is clear: a #ChildMarriageFreeWorld by 2030.

Those of you who guessed that the @_AfricanUnion Theme of the Year 2026 is safe water and sanitation...you're right!
Across Africa, water and sanitation outcomes depend on how water resources are managed, how #sanitation is planned for urban and rural growth, how infrastructure is financed and maintained, and how countries cooperate on shared water sources. #ClimateChange, population growth, and rapid urbanization make these system-level questions unavoidable.
The 2026 Theme of the Year responds to these realities. It places water security and safe sanitation within the long-term objectives of #Agenda2063, calling for integrated policies, stronger institutions, and coordinated action that can support #development, #publichealth, food systems, and economic growth over time.
Civil society has a critical role in this agenda. From community-level monitoring and evidence gathering to policy engagement and accountability, CSOs contribute to how water and sanitation commitments are implemented in practice.
We invite you to join us in Addis 🇪🇹 on February 9th to learn more about the #AUTOTY2026 and how #civilsociety and the #diaspora can contribute to its implementation across Africa: https://t.co/KyHEfADVuw
