As we moved through #coffee agroforests, the walk was a reminder to slow down and appreciate the #biodiversity around us. Highlights included the Indian paradise flycatcher and the grey-fronted green pigeon, endemic to the #WesternGhats. ☀️
23 participants joined us for a morning of #birding in #Kodagu, Karnataka, led by Pattada Bopanna. From spotting species to tuning in to bird calls, the walk offered a wonderful opportunity to observe and learn about the rich birdlife of this landscape. 🐦🌿 @RainmatterOrg (1/2)
Participants observed native trees such as black varnish and dhoopa in red flush, along with several local fruit-bearing species. The walk encouraged closer observation of the landscape and created space to share traditional knowledge about trees with younger generations. (2/2)
Earlier this month, Raagini from WCS-India and ecologist Sannuvanda Chengappa led a #Tree Walk in #Kodagu. The trail moved from a #coffee plantation into a community-protected area, highlighting the layered biodiversity of the landscape. @RainmatterOrg (1/2)
