Recent Physics alumnus, Leigh Parrott, was offered a fellowship in the TEXAS Bridge Program. The program prepares participants for careers in astronomy and astrophysics. While at WCU, Leigh did research with Dr. Marc Gagne on X-ray astronomy. Leigh, we are excited for you!

Congrats to WCU alumnus Carlos Cartagena (shown on the left) for successfully defending his PhD thesis at Bryn Mawr College. Dr. Cartagena will soon be starting a position at Xantho Technologies, which is doing cutting edge work in the field of fusion energy.

Logan Pennella using optical tweezers (focused laser light that can grab small particles) to perform an experiment in PHY 455. Many of our students have turned their love of optics and photonics into careers at companies like Avo Photonics and Tiger Optics.
