Tomorrow we host Dr. Michael Compitello (Arizona State University) for a Zoom session with our students. We’re looking forward to learning more about his “Unsnared Drum” project and talking about commissioning, creating, and performing new percussion music! #percussion#snaredrum
Crisp autumn temperatures, birds chirping on campus, and perfectly clear skies to start week six here at WCU! Thanks to all of the students, faculty, and staff who are working so hard to keep us healthy and together on campus!
I believe in this project, its mission, and the people involved in it SO SO MUCH! I hope you’ll consider supporting us as we try to get over the finish line!

With no access to practice rooms, and all of our students at home, we gotta get creative! We’ll be sharing some of the solutions that our awesome students come up with, and we’d love to see yours too! Tag us and use #nopracticeroomnoproblem so we can see what you’re up to!
This crew. Right here. Money. In front of a packed house, no less.

Great playing by the Wind Ensemble Percussion section tonight, and the old guy in the middle did his best to keep up with these youngsters!
Some early work on a super cool piece by @finolamerivale Lots of room for fun and creativity in this one! Looking forward to working this up this semester!
Audition Day #1 is in the books! We heard some great playing, and we’re looking forward to next week’s auditions! If you haven’t gotten your application in, there’s still time!
We had a great time hosting @colleendbern yesterday at WCU! She gave an informative class, worked with some of our students in lessons, and played an excellent recital, filled with some really wonderful new repertoire! If you get a chance to hear her, be sure to check it out!
