Today my 7th grade classes practiced the essential skills of agility, teamwork, perseverance, & problem solving as they worked in teams to solve a murder mystery. One of my typically negative students commented that”this was the best class. I really had fun.” For the win! #NLSD4U

The first day of the MS Student Store was a great success. We had visits from Mr. Link, the superintendent and Mr. Hauser, the principal. The students did a great job and came up with some good feedback from the first day. #NLSD4U

I am so proud of my students in my 7th gr. Financial Lit classes. They have been working hard learner & applying a business plan for a new student store at the middle school.  I am proud to announce that the “soft” opening for the DOG DEN will be Monday. #NLSD4U

NL STEAM Camp Day 8: We made garden rocks, lazer cut coded designs, moon models, and edible DNA models. They tested suspension bridges & constructed electric circuits while learning about how electric eels hunt. #nlsd4u

NL STEAM Camp Day 7: Some of the things the campers learned about were: plant fertilization, bee honey combs, spiders, suspension bridges, coding, meteorology, and DNA models. Our guest speaker was Dr. Staivecki, a local dentist.#nlsd4u

NL STEAM Camp Day 6: The campers designed & constructed bubble wands and bridges, made stained glass leaves, examined strawberry DNA, painted mountain models, and had an introduction to meteorology.. #nlsd4u

NL STEAM Camp Day 5: A nice start to the 2nd week of camp. We drew life size whales, learned about pollination & used symmetry to draw flowers, made mountain models, applied entrepreneurship & sublimation to Tshirts, made milk paintings & string art. #nlsd4u

NL STEAM Camp Day 4: The campers loved the first week of camp. We made plantable seed paper, constructed bird feeders, designed STEAM Camp logos, calculated acceleration due to gravity, launched bottle rockets, and made banana ice cream. #nlsd4u

STEAM Camp Day 3: The children are learning about how STEAM is everywhere. The campers investigated plant stems, built birds nests, launched hot air balloons, learned experimental design with made ice cream, finish squeeze bottle rockets. #nlsd4u

STEAM Camp Day 2: Children are having a blast. Campers did root investigations, examined how Arctic animals stay warm, built hot air balloons, created live models of the solar system, created butter, and made squeeze bottle rockets.
