Sixty years of engineering, kept alive by hand. 🛞 ✨
This is an Austin-Healey 3000, a hand-assembled British roadster from the 1960s. Under the hood is a carbureted straight-six with no ECU, no sensors, and no software.
Fuel, spark and compression are all managed mechanically, which means every fault can be diagnosed by ear and repaired with basic hand tools.
Austin-Healey stopped existing as a brand over 50 years ago. Thousands of these cars are still on the road anyway, because the knowledge needed to keep one running can be passed down along with the car itself.
The reason this car still starts is that there is almost nothing inside it that can permanently break.

That long string of digits at the bottom of the screen is the sheet music. 🎹 🎧
On a musical calculator, every key is tuned to a real pitch. The digits follow numbered musical notation, a system musicians have used for over 300 years, where 1 means "do," 2 means "re," and the scale climbs to 7 as "ti." The surrounding keys, including plus, minus, and times, fill in the higher and lower notes, stretching one $10 calculator across three full octaves.
Each calculator handles one voice at a time. That is why performers line up several of them, like piano registers, playing melody with one hand and harmony with the other.
The song getting this treatment is Korobeiniki, a Russian folk tune from the 1860s that the Game Boy turned into the Tetris theme in 1989.

A martyr's bones turned into the Church's most dazzling argument. 🕯 ⚱️
Workers under Rome in 1578 accidentally broke into a tunnel filled with thousands of skeletons, and the Catholic Church turned them into treasure.
The bones were believed to belong to early Christian martyrs, and the timing changed everything. The Protestant Reformation was destroying Catholic relics across Europe, so the Church responded by making its relics impossible to ignore.
Skeletons were shipped north to Bavaria, Germany, and Switzerland, where nuns trained in a convent craft called Klosterarbeit spent months and sometimes years on a single body, wrapping each bone in protective gauze before setting gold wire, pearls, and gemstones by hand.
They became known as Catacomb Saints. This one, labeled St. Felix, has been sitting on his golden throne for roughly 300 years, every jewel still in place.

At full speed, everything in this video is over in about two seconds. ⚙️ 🚦
Around 20 crew members swarm the car the moment it stops, and every single one has exactly one job. Three people per wheel: one on the gun, one pulling the old tire, and one fitting the new one, plus jack operators at the nose and tail and stabilizers holding the chassis steady.
F1 wheels are held on by a single central locking nut instead of the five lug nuts on a regular car, and the pneumatic wheel guns that remove it deliver over 3,000 Nm of torque, so the nut is off in a fraction of a second.
Every gunner presses a confirmation button the instant their wheel is tight, and only when all four signals register does the car drop off its jacks and the driver get the green light.
The benchmark is brutal. Under 2.5 seconds is routine. Under 2 is elite. The world record is 1.80, and in 1950, this same job took 67 seconds.
The crew in this footage is Cadillac's, the newest team on the grid, drilled from zero to meet that standard in its debut season.
Seventy-five years of refinement, compressed into two seconds.
