This scene with Kellerman hits differently.
He looks at his sister and admits that he’s no longer the brother she remembers. The things he had to do, the people he had to hurt, and everything he went through had changed him so much that he could no longer even tell where good ended and evil began.
The saddest part is that he knows he has become someone his younger self would probably hate.
“I’m not the brother you remember. I’ve changed in a really bad way.”
Sometimes people don’t become cold because they were born that way. Sometimes life changes them until they barely recognize themselves anymore.#prisonbreak
This scene between Michael Scofield and Agent Self says a lot without Michael saying much.
Self tells Michael, “I didn’t choose you because I had you in custody. I chose you because I believed you could pull it off.”
Michael’s response is cold: “A lot of people have believed in me in the last few months, Agent Self. Not all of them are alive today.”
Michael had spent years being the person everyone relied on when the impossible needed to be done. But by this point, he had also watched people around him get hurt and killed because of the situations he was involved in.
Self saw Michael as the man who could accomplish the impossible. Michael saw himself as the man who had already lost too many people along the way.
That one line from Michael says everything. 🥶
Choose between making money yourself and begging for a living?
People like Diogenes of Sinope rejected money and discarded their possessions, viewing wealth as a corruption of the soul. Yet they had to beg or wait for charity to eat.
Remember, money is the root of evil…
